I'm Matt Chapman.
Life insurance touched my life before I really even knew what it was. When I was 22 my father passed away after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. In our home he was the breadwinner. My mom was a stay at home Mom. As I graduated college to start my professional career my immediate family was at a massive crossroad. Fortunately through financial planning and life insurance our lives were able to stay as stable as possible with the loss of my father. We were able to focus on our grief, celebrate the life of my father, and focus on our healing without having to worry about the financial burden.
I have since done the same for my family and I hope to be able to do the same for yours in honor of my father!
Common questions
Straight answers
What is mortgage protection insurance?
It is life insurance set up to help your family keep the home. If you pass away while the policy is in force, the death benefit is paid to the beneficiary you name, who can use it to pay off or keep up with the mortgage.
Is mortgage protection the same as PMI?
No. Private mortgage insurance (PMI) protects your lender if you stop paying. Mortgage protection protects your family. It is not required by your lender and is not connected to your mortgage company.
Is it different from regular term life insurance?
Often it is the same kind of coverage, sized to your mortgage. Sometimes a standard term policy gives you the same protection, so I compare the options and tell you plainly which fits your situation.
Do I need a medical exam?
Not always. Some policies are issued with health questions only, and others require an exam. Which one is available depends on your age, health, and the amount of coverage.
Who receives the money?
The beneficiary you choose, such as your spouse or children. They decide how to use it, whether that is the mortgage, other bills, or day-to-day expenses.
